This policy describes the cookies and similar technologies used on the TraCarta website, what each does, how long they last, and how you can control them. It supplements our Privacy Policy and forms part of it.

1What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember information about your visit, for example, that you have already dismissed a banner, or which page you came from. This policy also covers similar technologies such as local storage, session storage, and pixel tags, which we refer to collectively as "cookies" for simplicity.

Cookies may be:

  • First-party, placed by the website you are visiting, in our case tracarta.com;
  • Third-party, placed by other domains, typically because the website embeds content or services from those domains;
  • Session, deleted when you close your browser;
  • Persistent, held on your device for a set period or until you delete them.

2How we use cookies

We use cookies sparingly. The TraCarta website is informational; we do not run user accounts, host advertising, or track users across other websites. The cookies we do use fall into three categories, described in Section 3.

What we don't do

We do not use cookies for advertising. We do not place advertising-network cookies. We do not allow third parties to track you across other websites through our site. We do not sell or share cookie data with data brokers.

3Categories we use

The categories of cookies we use, and whether each requires consent under the DPDP Act, are:

  • Strictly necessary, cookies required for the website to function. These do not require consent. Examples include cookies that remember your acceptance of this policy, or cookies that maintain a form submission across page loads.
  • Analytics, cookies that help us understand how visitors use the website in aggregate, for example, which pages are most read. We do not currently run any analytics provider on this website. If we add one in future, it will be a privacy-respecting analytics tool that does not enable individual tracking, and we will update this policy at that time.
  • Functional, cookies that remember your preferences, such as your accepted cookie categories. These require consent for any category that is not strictly necessary.

We do not use marketing or advertising cookies. If our position on this ever changes, we will update this policy and seek fresh consent.

If the website later adds new cookies, for example, if a chat widget is introduced, this list will be updated and (where the category is not strictly necessary) we will request fresh consent before the cookie is set.

5Managing your preferences

You can control cookies in three ways:

  • Through our preference notice. Click "Manage preferences" at the top of this page to re-open the consent notice. The site currently uses only essential cookies, so there are no categories to toggle, but if a future category is added, the notice will surface it.
  • Through your browser. All major browsers let you delete cookies, block cookies from specific sites, or block third-party cookies. Instructions vary by browser and are typically found under "Privacy" or "Site settings" in browser preferences.
  • By withdrawing consent. If you previously accepted optional cookies and wish to withdraw consent, return to the preference manager and update your selection. We will not place optional cookies after consent is withdrawn.

If you block strictly-necessary cookies, parts of the website may not work as expected. Forms may not submit, preferences may not be remembered.

6Do Not Track

Some browsers transmit a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. The handling of DNT is not standardised in Indian law, and the website does not currently respond to DNT signals. We do, however, respect choices you make through our preference manager and through your browser settings.

7Changes to this policy

We update this policy whenever a cookie is added, removed, or its purpose changes. When we do, the "Last updated" date at the top of the document changes accordingly. Where a new cookie requires consent, we will request consent before placing it, updating this page is not a substitute for asking.
